What is Holistic Health?

What is Holistic Health?

Holistic means addressing the whole person which includes all of the 8 areas. Most health problems are caused by imbalances among these 8 areas, over time, as related to an individual’s genetics, lifestyle, and capacity to deal with stress.

Properly addressing all of these areas leads to dramatic improvements in your health.

Emotional/Mental Stress

Many people are aware that mental / emotional stress can have a negative impact upon health. Most are not aware, however, that there is much that can be done to increase one's ability to handle stress and to reduce it's negative effects.

In general, the more the body/mind complex is in balance, the more effectively one is able to deal with mental and emotional stress in a positive way and prevent it from spilling over into the body. Advanced techniques such as NeuroEmotional Technique, and Total Body Modification are extremely accurate at being able to pinpoint specific issues or emotions that are having a negative effect and in many cases lessen this impact. This results in major health benefits. This process is not easy to describe and is best experienced for oneself.

Energy Depletions

This is the most important area in achieving and maintaining optimal health. Hippocrates said “The natural healing force within each one of us is the greatest force in getting well”. What is most important is that one has enough of it, otherwise the body/mind will simply not function properly and any other efforts one makes to improve health will be limited.

This is the most common depletion we find and also the most overlooked. So many people, due to the cumulative effects of different types of stressors are seriously deficient in this basic vital energy. We have extremely effective methods for increasing this basic energy, which can usually be accomplished rather quickly.

Hormonal Imbalances

A major area of concern today, especially for women who experience a wide-variety of hormone-related problems including menstrual cramps, PMS, infertility, menopausal symptoms, osteoporosis, and an alarming rise in hormone-related cancers, especially breast cancer.

The conventional medical approach has failed to find truly safe and effective solutions to these problems. For example, Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) prescribed for millions of women has been shown conclusively to dangerously increase a woman's risk of cancer, heart disease and stroke, while having little positive benefit.

A holistic approach is critical here because hormones cannot be isolated myopically from the rest of the body/mind complex. As the other seven areas of our holistic approach are brought into balance, this has positive effects on hormonal balance. Also, certain very specific natural supplements can make a considerable difference. While there are still cases where conventional HRT is appropriate, many women benefit greatly from our natural approach.

Microbes

There has been a huge increase in the prevalence of microbes in today's world, which can have devastating effects on health. There are 5 main categories of microbes: virus, bacteria, parasites, molds, and yeast/candida. The last three, in our experience, are largely overlooked and/or not treated properly by the vast majority of health care professionals.

Yeast overgrowth is extremely common today. The major reasons for this is over-consumption of refined carbohydrates, especially sugar along with stress, antibiotic use, and birth control pills. They contribute to a wide variety of symptoms such as fatigue, depression, sinus and allergy problems, gas/bloating, and weight gain.

Our exposure to parasites has greatly increased over the past decade; many feel it has reached epidemic proportions. Parasites refer to the wide variety of microorganisms that exist in a parasitic relationship with the body and cause health problems especially digestive, sinus and skin problems. Molds, which are everywhere, have similar consequences to yeast/candida.

We have developed considerable expertise over the past 20 years in detecting and correcting problems in these areas.

Nervous System Interferences

This is probably the most overlooked area of healthcare. The nervous system is the master control system, which controls all functions that take place in the body, down to the smallest cell. The brain can be seen as a computer with thousands of "programs" which regulate all functions. When these programs develop problems (like glitches or bugs in your computer program), they no longer regulate as they are designed to do and health problems result.

We utilize advanced, cutting edge techniques such as Applied Kinesiology, and Total Body Modification to reset these nervous system programs. This makes a tremendous difference in enabling us to get to the root of your problems.

Nutritional Deficiencies

Proper nutrition, both as to diet and nutritional supplements, is vital to good health and is more complicated than it is often made out to be, for a number of reasons including:

  1. Individual nutritional requirements vary greatly from one person to another.
  2. It is far more effective to pinpoint one’s exact individual needs, rather than guessing based on something you read or taking a “shotgun approach” in the hope that some combination will work.
  3. Modern life, which is loaded with high levels of stress, toxins, and microbes, often require very specific nutritional supplements which most people are lacking. Even if a person “eats well,” most still must supplement their diet with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, etc.
  4. Many of the products on the market today are of inferior quality. Nutrition is “big business” today and there is a great deal of hype, misinformation and an over-emphasis on profit over quality.

In addition to being Clinical Nutritionists, we utilize kinesiological testing which if used properly is a brilliant tool for assessing an individual’s specific nutritional needs. Also, the whole food supplements we use are of the highest and purest quality (Standard Process). It is not what you take, but what you utilize that counts.

Structural Imbalances

Structure refers to the musculoskeletal system, which consists of muscles, fascia, bones, tendons, ligaments, cartilage and connective tissue. The central cause of problems here lie in the muscles, which develop "adhesions" and become tight, twisted, knotted-up, restricted and painful. This results in neck and back pain, as well as pain in joints such as the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee and ankle. This also contributes to many forms of arthritis.

In our experience, most practitioners do not deal deeply enough with the underlying muscle imbalances and adhesions. We utilize very advanced soft-tissue techniques such as Active Release Technique, Applied Kinesiology, and chiropractic as well as state-of-the-art modalities such as cold laser and low frequency ultrasound therapies. This combination enables us to correct these conditions relatively quickly.

Toxins

There are two primary types of toxins: endotoxins and environmental (exotoxins). Endotoxins are those waste products from the digestion of food that as a result of impaired digestion accumulate in our bodies. Another category is the toxins given off by the overgrowth of unfriendly microbes. Both comprise some extremely toxic substances that have severe health consequences.

Environmental toxins, especially chemicals and heavy metals are equally if not more pernicious. Their negative effects on ones health are one of the most overlooked and misunderstood areas. Another environmental toxin, although it is usually not viewed this way, is the overexposure to electronics. We utilize very advanced, leading edge methods of eliminating these noxious toxins.

Often very specific nutritional supplements designed to clean out our body’s detoxification pathways are needed, as well as adjunctive therapies such as cold laser therapies, which dislodges toxins from their storage sites so they can be properly eliminated.
